Show Dog Saturday with the Aussies - Doberman Pinschers

We were looking at Mom's pictures and asked her what kind of dog this one is.  She's so pretty!  Mom says this is a Doberman Pinscher.

This is a Doberman Pinscher, also known as a Dobie, without all the stuff on.  Mom says they were developed in Germany in the late 1800s and have Great Dane, Greyhound, German Shorthaired Pointer and Rottweiler in them. Don't they look regal?

Here in the U.S., we see most of the Dobies with cropped ears and tails, like the picture above. Some places that isn't legal and there are some people that prefer not to have that done.

Alot of them are the black with tan markings, but some of the other colors are fawn, red and blue as well as white or albino.

Dobies are known to be very athletic and are really good in agility. They are also very elegant and graceful in general.  And Mom says they are smart and loyal too.

Dobies can also be really protective and intimidating.  But people who have them say they can be trained to do well with kids and make great family dogs.

Mom says they are really cool!
