We haven't really been in any ACTUAL mischief this week, but so much potential! With all of the animals on the farm, wanted and unwanted, things can get interesting sometimes.
We see the horses a couple of times a day. They have things like water tanks, which can be great fun or provide a cool drink away from the house.
They also get grain every day. Sometimes they are messy and we get to clean up!
Then there are the cats, or as we prefer to consider them, the catdogs. They act alot like us sometimes. Maybe they think they are dogs? They go hunting for the critters and sometimes we like to get the leftovers until Mom says "gross" or "stop it"!
Then there are the chickens. They are such weird creatures! They do keep the bugs down and their grain is kind of tasty too!
This rooster is Jessie's nemesis! He likes to puff up at her and she steers clear.
We see the cows a couple times a day also. Jessie is wondering "Where do you want them?" We like to roll in the stuff they drop sometimes. But it usually gets us a bath, so have to plan accordingly.
Then we have the uninvited, UNWELCOME, guest. It has been a hot, dry summer, so rattlesnakes have definitely been out. Don't worry. This photo was on ZOOM and cropped. Mom was way back out of striking distance. She always watches for them because they could be dangerous. Just part of living in the country in our neck of the woods.
Other guests have included deer, birds, bunnies, voles, prairie dogs, a badger or two, hawks, coyotes and the occasional eagle. Mom even saw 3 BALD EAGLES one morning. No camera handy, but she says it was really cool!
So many ways to get into mischief here!
We're joining the Monday Mischief blog hop so check it out!
How neat you have all those creatures close by! We have some bald eagles around here too but I have to keep a close eye on Mr. N. He looks tasty.
ReplyDeleteYes, we keep an eye out for those too, as well as owls. The smaller dogs are seen as prey.
DeleteWow, so much exciting stuff going on at your place! But those snakes.... eeek! We have those here too so we have to be careful when we go hiking in the canyons around here.
ReplyDeleteTaking a dip in the horse trough looks like fun! :)
We do NOT like the snakes!
DeleteThat snake!! Omg.
ReplyDeleteWe've "taken care of" 4 of them this year!
DeleteYou pups have a huge variety of friends to look after! That sounds so fun, although Zoe would probably love to help Jessie out with her rooster problem! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat snake looks scary! Good thing you pups and your mom stayed well away from it!
Yep. He's a mean little thing!
DeleteYIKES over that snake! Y'all's farm looks fun!
ReplyDeleteMostly fun, snakes not included.
DeleteOh my... you guys have lots of COOL animals! Except for maybe that rattlesnake... I've never seen one in person before, but I know that they do live in Texas. We see some other non-venomous snakes around here sometimes and lots of other critters too.
ReplyDeleteWe love MOST of the critters, but the snakes are not popular!
DeleteI thought we saw a lot of creatures on our walks!! So fun. We have lots of deer near us. Cocoa would chase them if she could.
ReplyDeleteWe try not to let the dogs chase because they could end up running a LONG ways.
DeleteYikes on the snake. We may have cold snowy winters here, but at least few snakes...lol. Very cool that you saw Bald Eagles. We see them on occasion up at our cabin.
