Equipment Inspectors!
Looks fine to us, Mom!
Summer is haying season. Alot of times, it runs from April (when things start turning green and need fertilizer, etc.) to late September (if the weather has cooperated and the last cutting of hay is done). It is part of our life.
Labor and mischief here on the farm. Sometimes, it is a fine line. Especially with Aussie busybodies around.
The dogs feel it is their duty to check things out, whether I tell them to or not. If they are told to "check it out" it is labor. If they aren't, it is mischief.
One of the things they naturally do is check things out. Makes for great herders, but sometimes puts them in harm's way if we don't watch out.
We appreciate the effort, but watch them closely. They love to feel important so we try to work with them. But when the equipment is running, they are kept FAAAARRRR away. Life on the farm.
We're joining the Monday Mischief blog hop. Check it out!
My parents used to have a horse farm and hay baling season was both fun and dreaded, lol! It was nice to get the family together to bail the hay and even the grandkids would help out. The dogs were always a big part of those weekends. :)
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteWow that's so cool! I'm sure they want to be in the middle of everything!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! They are sure they are necessary to everything.
DeleteWhoa, awesome! We'd like to live on a farm ourselves!
ReplyDeleteIt works for us. Thanks for commenting!
DeleteAwe! They're good little helpers! The park we go to frequently has large machinery parked out there. They are always doing something to it.. The girls love to check it out! Sometimes they try to get into the trucks with the workers! It's so funny! I only let them go if the stuff is parked, though!
ReplyDeleteYep. Curious only to an extent.
DeleteMr. N always wants to be in the middle of everything too... and so he got paint on him this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet it complements his color nicely. LOL!
Deleteaussies are workaholics. LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure!
DeleteI like how you define labor vs mischief! Shasta is another mischief maker, though this weekend he slept through all the work!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYep! It's a fine line!
DeleteI had to laugh when I saw that huge piece of equipment and your brave dogs around it. My Pierre is terrified of the vacuum! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny is that our dogs are scared of the vacuum too, but the big stuff......no problem.
DeleteSophie and Jasper have never been on a farm, but I bet they'd love it. What could be better than running across acres and acres free! I agree you have to watch them. But, what a life!
ReplyDeleteThat farm equipment looks like too much labor to me.
ReplyDeleteIt's so great that your dogs get to feel important and be outdoors with you while you perform your very important labor. Farm equipment sure has changed since I was a kid in Illinois, but it's still a hard job.
