These are the sisters! We often call them Thing 1 and Thing 2. Dr. Seuss fans will get that reference. Sera is their mom. When they were born, we intended to find them each homes.
But I fell in love with Jessie (Thing 2, Superthing)
and my husband fell in love with Reba (Thing 1).
We had heard about how raising siblings can be difficult. However, we think things have worked out pretty well.
They are especially close to each other. They cuddle alot. And play alot. They get along well with the other dogs. And occasionally get in trouble together.
They do get pretty jealous of each other. If one is getting attention, you can bet the other will be right there too. We try to spread the love around so nobody feels left out. With 5 dogs, that's alot of love to spread, but they love us back so it's all good.
The things are usually pretty good dogs. But once in awhile, they get an idea in their heads, and they tune out the rest of the world. They occasionally like to go exploring together and ignore calls to come. I can generally recognize it coming because they get this special look in their eyes.
I think we have this fixed by giving good doggie treats when we get back to the house. They do love their treats! So far so good.
We'll see!
We're joining the Monday Mischief blog hop hosted by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies. Check it out!
That's so cute, Thing 1 and Thing 2, lol! I can just imagine that look they get in their eyes before setting off on an adventure together.
ReplyDeleteThing 1 and Thing 2 - so cute! I give Rita a tasty treat when we get home from our walks as well - and you should see how she double-times it when we get close to home! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute and that's awesome that they are doing so well together. I knew someone who had two sisters they raised together and they were always fighting... really bad fights with punctures. I'm always glad to hear there are good stories out there! I love how you call them Thing 1 and Thing 2. We have a similar thing with the girls. We call them "This one" and "That one". Sometimes I will say "the other one". LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that everything turned out well. I hear raising littermates can be especially difficult. I used to call Mr. N and our foster pup Thing one and Thing two too!
ReplyDeleteMore and more people are raising litter-mates, and despite the negative articles, more and more people are finding it not applicable to them. Kudos to you!!! I don't know much but I like hearing stories like yours. Siblings and litter-mates rock!
ReplyDeleteGlad they're good together!
ReplyDeleteIn this case, at least, it is working. They will be 3 in November so hopefully no changes.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the siblings get along great! I am not sure I could handle two Jack Russells. One keeps me on my toes.
ReplyDeleteThing one and thing two, I love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know all too well what you mean about jealousy!!! LOL! Koda is the worst because he is a big mamas boy, so when the girls come over for a pet, he has to get right in there!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Yep! Gotta make sure everybody gets equal loving.
DeleteJessie is adorable. I see why you couldn't give her up!
ReplyDeleteThe Things are adorable. We are so glad they got to stay together and stay with you.
ReplyDeleteI never knew having siblings could cause trouble. Cat siblings seem to get along OK.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you couldn't part with them!
